**The role - Advice at Home project worker**

**Salary**:Starting £26,359 pro rata, dependent on experience + 10% pension

**Hours**:15 hours per week.

**Location**:The post is based within Citizens Advice Wokingham but it is a home visitor post, working with people in their homes or other community locations.

**Reports to**: Head of Operations

**Role profile**

This role has been created to help clients who might otherwise struggle to access our services at our offices or outreach locations. The role is for an Advice at Home project worker to attend client’s homes or other suitable community locations.

You will be able to:
➤ explore options and implications with clients to empower them in making well-informed choices and decisions.

➤ where necessary, negotiate with third parties, including statutory and non-statutory organisations as required.

➤ act for the client where necessary, by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.

➤ work alongside other advisers within Citizens Advice Wokingham to share expertise, training and make or receive referrals where appropriate.

➤ provide advice in home visits and other locations where appropriate, following relevant protocols and health and safety procedures.

➤ assist with the promotion of research and campaigns work and will monitor service provision to ensure that it reaches the widest possible client group.

You will hold a Generalist Advice Certificate or be working towards one and be willing to complete any relevant training. We will also consider applicants who have experience of working in the advice sector, particularly in a home visiting role. This role will require a DBS check to be undertaken prior to commencement of the role.

You will have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and enjoy working as part of a lively, busy team. You will have the ability to ensure best use of IT systems and packages in the provision of advice services.

**Person specification**

1. Ability to commit to, and work within, the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice Service.

2. Generalist certification in Advicework, or a willingness to work towards qualification

4. Demonstrate an understanding and awareness of the issues affecting society and their implications for clients and service provision.

5. Ability to maintain casework systems and procedures.

6. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

7. Demonstrate an understanding of the issues involved in interviewing clients away from the main office premises, and providing advice within clients’ home environments.

8. Ability to research, analyse and interpret complex information and produce

and present clear reports verbally and in writing.

9. Proven ability to monitor and maintain project delivery against agreed

targets.

10. Ability to prioritise own work, meet deadlines and manage workload in a busy environment.

12. Ability to monitor and maintain own standards, including a commitment to continuous professional development.

13. Ability to travel between locations for appropriate advice sessions.
