Oxford Creators is committed to ‘safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility’ and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment. You will be required to partake in Level 2 Safeguard training and enhanced DBS check.

**We are looking for a motivated, creative, passionate and empathetic teaching assistant to join our non-profit alternative education provision based in Didcot.**

We empower 8-18 year olds through a bespoke package of mental health support, art, trips in the community to promote employability skills, fitness sessions and digital skills.

Our mission is to ensure all students feel valued, included and inspired to become the best version of themselves.

This role includes assisting mentors in their sessions, onboarding new students onto our system, liaising with schools, checking and sending reports to parents and you will also be responsible for mentoring up to 4 EHCP or SEN students a week as cover for other mentors or your own caseload. There is an opportunity to grow and develop your role as Oxford Creators expands over the next 12 months.

You will be working closely alongside a team of mentors to develop an inspiring, engaging and bespoke package of alternative education.

**CHILDREN WE SUPPORT**

Many students at Oxford Creators are neurodiverse (ADHD / Autism), may suffer from anxiety or mental health issues. They do not attend school, are on a reduced timetable or are at risk of exclusion from their school. We, therefore, are looking for people who have experience in working with children and have a mental health, therapy, teaching assistant or pastoral care background.

**J O B D E S C R I P T I O N**

Assisting the CEO and Operations Manager with admin duties such an onboarding new students

Designing a holistic, creative curriculum for 8 - 16 year olds

Planning and delivering 2-hour-long sessions 1:1 with a child that will focus on their social, emotional and mental health needs

Attending planning and safeguarding meetings with management team

Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure every child is kept safe and feels safe

Report any concerns regarding child protection to the Designated Safeguarding Leads

Uphold the Oxford Creators code of conduct at all times

Tailor sessions to each child's individual strengths, passions and interests whilst instilling confidence and raising their self-esteem

Writing session notes about each student

Building relationships with schools, parents and the local community

Liaising with schools and onboarding new referrals

Conducting visits for new students and parents

Sending student reports

Taking a proactive role in promoting the work of our non-profit through social media, networking events and online panel discussions

Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate and understand the requirements of children in your group who may have additional needs
(including dietary needs) or a medical condition

**R E Q U I R E M E N T S**

Undertake enhanced DBS check and pass Level 2 safeguard training prior to working on-site with our students

Complete the Oxford Creators onboarding and induction process

Refresher safeguard training, health and safety and data protection training every 12 months

Attend relevant Continued Professional Development opportunities as and when required in order to meet the needs of the role

Be confident to put forward ideas to develop your role and the company for the best interests of the children you work with

Ongoing supervision from the Oxford Creators management team to take place on a regular basis to ensure consistent high standards in staff and student wellbeing, safeguarding and positive workplace culture
