This is an important and key role within our Angus Carers Centre Team and would suit someone who is looking to secure flexible, secondary employment.
You will be working closely with our Service Manager’s and Rights & Engagement Officer’s, over three teams, Young Carers, Adult Carers and the Community Engagement team, transporting our Young Carers, Adult Carers and people with mild to moderate dementia, to and from some of their homes or ACC base. You will support regular outings in and around Angus, to attend various activities and regular groups.
The role is essential to ensuring a safe, stimulating, and meaningful experience for all of our patrons. You will be responsible for ensuring the condition of our minibus is kept to a high standard, daily safety checks completed and for the general safety of all passengers on board.
Along with our Angus Carers Centre Team, you will positively and professionally engage with our young people, adults, and their families, ensuring an individualised approach to meet a variety of personal requirements and needs.
Our Rights & Engagement Officers will lead with all direct care and support for our patrons. Our Bus Drivers are requested to support with the transition of our Young Carers, Adults & Children on and off the bus where required, as well as in and out of their homes, venues and our base, however you are not asked to provide direct support. A PVG will be required for this role.
We are looking for minibus drivers who are available weekdays, evenings and weekends, a flexible approach is required, as the need will change during term time and school holiday period. We would request a commitment of a minimum of 2 evenings per week, however more hours would be available throughout the school holidays.
Job Summary
1. Carry out all necessary regular safety and maintenance checks of the minibus and ensure sufficient fuel for all outings.
2. Ensure the minibus bus is washed and cleaned regularly, both inside and out.
3. Support and assist in arranging a variety of social and recreational activities for young people, adults & children and to participate in activities if appropriate and guided by the Team.
4. Assist the team in supporting young people, adults & children to participate in recreation, play, leisure activities and outings.
5. Foster positive and supportive professional relationships with young people, adults & children and their families and carers, and other professionals where required.
6. Maintain and respect confidentially, dignity and the rights of all young people, adults, children and their families at all times.
Hours of work: 7 hours - up to 14 hours per week term time, up to 35 hours per week during school holidays (flexible working available & considered)
Skills & Experience
1. Valid, full Driver’s License, held for a minimum of 3 years, with current PCV category D or category D1 (capacity 9-16 passengers) - Essential
2. Experience of working with young people, adults & children desirable
3. Experience of working as part of a team
4. Promotes solution focused, collaborative and inclusive team working
5. Experience of working with Neurodivergence or Additional Support Needs not essential but desirable
6. Promotes, models and supports a culture where individuals are treated with dignity and respect
