Position: Purchasing Assistant
- Payrate: £12.30 - £12.82ph
- Location: Horsham outskirts
- Hours: Temp to perm Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm
Our client based on the outskirts of Horsham are looking to recruit a Purchasing Assistant to support the Purchasing Manager.
**Responsibilities**:
- Sourcing and purchasing materials continually looking for reductions.
- Working within specifications for products.
- Effectively communicate with other departments.
- Updating company stock systems
- Managing stock levels
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times, highlighting any issues or deviations immediately.
- Undertake any other duties on an ad-hoc basis as required by the Line Manager.
**Skills**:
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
- Experience of purchasing
- CIPS Qualified or prepared to undergo qualification

**Duties**:
- Assist in the procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment needed for production.
- Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and monitor stock availability.
- Coordinate with production planning to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their products and services.
- Assist in the development and implementation of supply chain management strategies.
- Monitor and analyze market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Assist in the management of contracts, including reviewing terms and conditions.
- Support the logistics team in coordinating shipments and tracking deliveries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory control processes.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience working in a purchasing or procurement role.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain principles and practices.
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and online purchasing systems.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in using inventory management software.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
