**Job summary**:

- The NCA is in the process of creating a dedicated surveillance capability to focus on Illicit Finance, the primary role of the team will be to combat the harm caused by those in facilitating financial crime impacting on the United Kingdom. Successful applicants will form the basis of the new dedicated surveillance team bringing with them a full range of previous surveillance experience in either law enforcement, military or other government agency roles. It is anticipated that the new team will be made up of officers from a wide range of ethnic and other backgrounds, to reflect the makeup of modern British society.
- The team will be based within the Midlands area operating from Birmingham and East Midlands (Nottingham) and will have a national remit supporting NCA illicit finance operational teams across the country where there is an identified requirement. The team may, on occasions, be tasked to respond to other Agency priorities in respect of all types of criminal activity; ranging from firearms supply, child sexual exploitation and the supply of Class A drugs.**Job description**:
NCA Surveillance Operatives respond to a broad range of threats including Organised Immigration Crime, Human Trafficking, Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Firearms and Drugs amongst others in a varied and dynamic environment and undertake a critical role identifying intelligence and evidential opportunities in support of Investigation leads.

You will be part of a team who will have officers with a range of surveillance qualifications, with some being specialists in technical, rural and/or motorcyclist surveillance.

It is a challenging role requiring a flexible approach to working long and varied hours, often at short notice, operating from locations within England & Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintain CPD and national standards for surveillance, specialist technical, rural and /or motorcyclist surveillance skills and advanced driving.
- Work as part of a dedicated team to deliver against specific NCA operational objectives.
- Gather evidence and intelligence in support of NCA and partner operations whilst deployed on surveillance operations. Manage case material in line with NCA policies and procedures in line with the code of ethics.
- Act in a professional and ethical manner at all times.

**Licences**:

- Advanced driver or military/other agency similar standard.**Qualifications**:

- The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:
- Q1 (Q100) Surveillance trained College of Policing Surveillance Operative or UK law enforcement, military or Intelligence agency certified equivalent

Please confirm you have been deployed for surveillance in either an operation or training environment on a minimum of two days during a six month rolling period. (Ideally, officers should have been deployed within the last 2 years but we are interested in officers with strong operational backgrounds and may consider experience obtained in the last 4 years).
