Bank Residential Support Worker

The Avenues House is a 2 bedded semi detached house based in the small village of Scissett, West Yorkshire. Which is on the outskirts of both Huddersfield and Wakefield. It is within the Kirklees Council district. Scissett is a small rural community with a range of facilities, activities and educational provisions within close proximity.
We are passionate and committed to meeting the needs of every young person and the goal when young people leave us to live independently and successfully reaching their full potential.
The Avenues House in a new and aspiring Children's Residential provider, that currently has one home but is in the process of acquiring their second property, which offers staff great career development and progression opportunities.
We use positive behaviour support approaches to understand the form and functions of behaviours and reduce behaviours that challenges. Positive behaviour support experience would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be given.
**What will I do as a Residential Support Worker?**
- To ensure that a caring and motivating environment is provided for the young people that takes into account individual developmental needs and enables young people to reach their full potential
- To plan and prepare activities that meet the young people's needs and stimulates their learning and integration within the home
- To work with local authorities/ placing authorities to ensure the care the young people receive is outstanding
- To establish and maintain positive working relationships with parents/carers in a way that supports young people's learning and development and values parental involvement where appropriate
- To be flexible within working practices of the home e.g. To help, where needed, including undertaking domestic tasks within the home, which will include preparation of meals, cleaning, shopping etc.
- To act as a Keyworker and contribute to the young persons care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans, as well as complete keywork sessions.
- To keep clear and legible records regarding the young people
**What are we looking for?**
- Level 3/4 Diploma in Children and Young People or equivalent (Desirable)
- Experience in a children's home setting or can demonstrate transferable skills/experience(Desirable)
- Passion to help nurture young people
- Be able to work a variety of shifts, days, evenings and weekends
- Full, UK driving licence (Desirable)
