**Service Engineer
Job purpose**
The postholder will undertake all duties associated with that of a Service Engineer, based on the Company’s head office in Chichester, involving remote working from home and providing site service and maintenance at Customer sites throughout the UK. In addition,the postholder will use their technical knowledge, satisfying client demand and delivering a service to a high standard.
**Hours of work**
The contractual hours of this post are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day with one hour meal break. Core hours of work are 8.30am to 5.00pm. The nature of this position means you will be expected to work such hours as are necessary to completeyour work.
However, when working on site on chargeable jobs, hours in excess of 7.5 hours will be paid according to the current overtime rates.
**Key tasks and responsibilities**
- Provide site service and maintenance at petrochemical sites throughout the UK
- Undertake planned and reactive maintenance
- Complete site documentation including permit requests, method statements & risk assessments.
- Compile written reports for customers.
- Remote diagnosis / support of customer systems
- When not on-site support of the workshop activities, including build and functional testing

**Health and safety**
It is your contractual duty to follow Health and Safety instructions issued by the Company, and to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
Due to the nature of this role and the responsibilities of the post holder, it is expected the post holder will provide example for others to follow with regards to health and safety matters and the post holder will be required to address any breach immediatelyand uphold the principles of the Health and Safety at work Act at all times.
**Measures of success**
The performance of the post holder will be continually reviewed and as part of the annual appraisal to ensure the service provided is as required by the organisation.
The post holder will be provided with guidance as to what is required of them during the course of the contract. It is the post holder’s responsibility to seek guidance and support should clarification be required in relation to the duties associated with thepost.
Knowledge & experience
- Experience in service provision/recognised apprenticeship
- Experience of mechanical equipment repairs, with knowledge of electrical fault finding, process control &
- Awareness & understanding of Quality, Environmental, Safety & Explosive Atmospheres Standards & working procedures
- Competent in general administration tasks required to support this role
- Competent in producing Customer/Service reports
- Hazardous area training
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Possess excellent time management skills - organised and punctual
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Mechanical engineers to be aware of Mechanical Compex Rules
- MEWP, PASMA, IPAF (Training provided as required)
- Independent Safety Passport preferred
