**Job Title**: Nursery Apprentice x3

- YMCA Pelsall Lane Day Nursery, Pelsall, WS4 1NG

**Pay rate**: National ApprenticeWage £6.40 per hour

**Working hours**:37.5 hours per week - Fixed termcontract for 12 months

**Annual Leave**: 28 days(includes bank holidays)

**Job Role**:
1. Motivatedby the desire to help children develop, you will be part of a team providinghigh quality care for children frombirth to 5 years.

2. Thepost holder will provide a warm and welcoming environment within the Nurserywhere young children and their families can feel valued and obtain positivehelp and support.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. To learn responsibility for the displayand maintenance of a safe, stimulating, interactive, learning environment inthe Nursery.

2. To learn to work within the guidelines ofthe Early Years Foundation Stage and assist in the planning, preparation anddelivery of an effective programme of activities to help babies and youngchildren to develop.

3. To learn the implementation of providingstimulating learning experiences, which enable young children to grow inconfidence and independence.

4. To learn and develop skills toeffectively observe, assess, monitoring and record childrens learning anddevelopment using a variety of methods.

5. To gather these observations and produceindividual profiles for each child in your small key worker group.

6. To learn responsibility for providingfull access to an effective programme of activities for children identified asrequiring additional support.

7. To participate in staff meetings.

8. To provide cover for practitioners withinthe team as necessary.

9. To work in partnership with otherprofessionals involved with the children and their families, i.e. healthvisitors, Inclusion support, speech therapists.

10. To support in the care of sick children andthose suffering minor injury.

11. To be familiar with the fire drill andprocedures for the safety of the children.

12. To assist with checking equipment forsafety and suitability to use and preparing resources as appropriate.

13. To share responsibility for ensuring theroom is cleaned at the end of each day.

14. To assist in the identification of childprotection issues.

15. To access personal and curriculumdevelopment opportunities.

16. To undertake duties in such a way thatensures a positive multi-cultural approval and with full regard for theprinciples and policies in place at the YMCA and comply with the EqualOpportunities & Diversity Policy and Child Protection Procedures within theorganisation.

17. Operate within YMCA policies andprocedures, strictly observing Health & Safety regulations of colleagues,parents/carers and yourself and the Safeguarding Children & Young PeoplePolicy.

18. Operate within Nursery policies andprocedures.

**Apprentice Nursery Practitioner**

**Qualification**

**Essential**

**Desirable**

Willing to complete a Level 2 qualification within the fixed term of apprenticeship. (12 months, 1 day)

**Experience**

Experience of working in a culturally diverse area and a commitment to equal opportunities in the workplace which creates a welcoming environment for people of all faiths and of none.

**Skills**

Knowledge of Ofsted Standards.

Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum

Able to speak two or more local community languages

**General**

Current first aid qualification

Current food hygiene qualification

Ability to respect and communicate the YMCAs Christian ethos
