**Corporate Accountant (Band 6)**

The post-holder will be responsible for providing financial management support for the NHS running costs budgets and related business processes. The post-holder will also be required to undertake other duties as part of the wider Corporate Finance team whichmeans that the focus of work may be varied as business needs dictate and a flexible approach is required.

**Pay Rates**:£21.50 per hour Umbrella or £19 per hour PAYE inclusive of holidaypay

**Hours / Working Days**:37.5 hours per week / Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm

**The main duties and responsibilities of the role are**:

- To provide support and assurance to the Head of Corporate Finance on financial management issues.
- To produce Budget reports provided to Budget Managers, Budget Holders and other relevant Managers.
- To ensure that Budget Adjustments are completed promptly for all appropriately approved (in line with the SFI’s) funding adjustments.
- Lead the budget setting process for corporate running cost budgets.
- Coordinate and produce month to month management reports.
- Analyse past expenditure variations to budget. Develop models that allow for forecasts to inform managers of the full year outturn.
- Work with budget holders to identify risks and mitigations against the financial plan.
- Identify cost pressures, service developments and funding opportunities.
- Preparation of journals and coding corrections.
- Finance lead for approving vacancies, updating establishment records, and analysing any pay variances compared to plan
- Completion of reconciliations relating to pay and agency costs and other areas as required.
- Supervise the Finance Assistant / Trainee with regards to transactional processing.
- To ensure that costing calculations produced as part of contractual negotiations or other business decisions are accurate within the know assumptions and that those assumptions are made clear and any risks associated with the costing are highlighted
- Provide routine financial advice to budget holders, ensuring any significant issues are escalated to the Head of Corporate Finance.

**The post-holder will have experience and expertise in a range of accounting areas including**:

- A professional accountancy qualification - Certificate Level/Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Member or equivalent experience to degree level.
- Extensive experience of budgeting and finance systems and underlying financial processes gained within a large, complex financial environment.
- Budget amendments, income and expenditure accruals and adjustments to the NHS’s general ledger system.
- Completion of month-end financial tasks and processes.
- Preparation of monthly pay and non-pay budget reports.
- Preparation of financial forecasts and analysis
- Experience of complex costing models.
- Payroll reconciliations and financial management reporting.
- Agreement of Balances and supplier statement reconciliations.
- IT literate and possess advanced ability to use excel, word and PowerPoint
- Experience of the ISFE financial ledger system including knowledge of ISFE reporting.
- Have previous management/supervision experience.
