Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

This is a new role which aims to offer a career progression for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. The post-holder will work within the NHS Barnsley Talking Therapies service providing high volume low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self management interventions to support clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. The post holder will provide Case Management Supervision for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner trainees under the direction of the Senior High Intensity Workers. KEY RESULT AREAS: To offer rapid screening and assessment, informed by knowledge of the spectrum of mental health needs and risk factors.

Provide assessment and low intensity interventions eg psycho-educational interventions, Guided Self Help, CBT to patients registered with Kirklees GP practices/health centres, drawing from CBT theories and techniques Work with colleagues in secondary mental health and other services locally to ensure the swift/appropriate transfer of patients between services. Provide Case Management supervision to Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Trainees. Offer training to Primary Care staff in CBT based interventions. Support GPs and other primary care workers in making appropriate referrals and in carrying out the mental health aspects of their own roles.

Provide a service that is comprehensive and accessible to a broad range of patients who have commonplace mental health problems and fulfil the criteria for the service. Make appropriate referrals to other service providers in the statutory and voluntary sectors and redirect patients to other sources of appropriate support within the local community as required. Liaise as appropriate with secondary care mental health services and social service departments. Provide a service that is flexible as far as possible in terms of service hours.
