Gardening Assistant

**We are seeking an individual to assist our principal gardener in a private garden near Cawdor, IV12.** This position offers flexible hours and would suit someone looking for part time or full time hours. There is the offer of a permanent contract for the right individual. Immediate start available but not essential.
This is a private organic garden which comprises of a walled Scottish vegetable garden with cut flowers, perennials, a small orchard, soft fruits and a large greenhouse. A cottage garden, shrub borders, topiary and lawns and a Tibetan garden on the banks of a burn. This role will include a range of practical horticultural tasks to develop, enhance and conserve the garden.
The post holder will provide practical hands-on duties in support of the Head Gardener ensuring that the garden and policies are presented and maintained in line with the property’s high standard.
General garden tasks such as mulching, pruning, weeding and harvesting the seasonal fruit and veg, and use of lawn mower to maintain the lawns. You’ll support with the planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants.
The person that we are seeking should have some skills and experience of general garden maintenance, and understanding, there is no requirement for experience in all garden machinery, training will be given if required. You should be willing, reliable and hardworking.
A good level of physical fitness and self-motivation is essential as is a current driver’s license. The ability to work in all weather conditions and take direction is vitally important to this role.
This is a private garden with the post holder and the Head Gardener only, therefore being a team player and adaptable is essential.
This role offers a degree of flexibility and we will consider individuals looking for hours within the range of 25 to 45 hours a week. Plus the offer of a permanent position for the right individual. There will be the requirement to work some weekends to ensure daily duties are carried out.
