Gwynedd, United Kingdom Triple West Medical Full time

Triple West Medical has been assigned by a Trust in Wales to help recruit for them a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon on either a Substantive or a 12 month NHS Fixed Term basis.

This is a new post, created to respond to increasing demand for specialist colorectal services.

A special interest within colorectal surgery (e.g. pelvic floor disorders, or inflammatory bowel disease) would be welcomed to support the development of the colorectal service

The post holder will be expected to participate in the Lower GI MDT and undertake laparoscopic colorectal resections. In this Trust on-call acute general surgery is provided by General Surgeons on 1 in 8 basis with prospective cover. The post holder will be expected to be part of this rota.

There are two OR1 laparoscopic theatres at the Trust, one of which is used mainly for GI surgery. The department follows NICE guidelines and colorectal cancer data is entered on the CaNISC database (Cancer Network Information System). The data is analysed and available via NBOCAP (National Bowel Cancer Audit Project). Cancer Services in Northern Wales are coordinated by the North Wales Cancer Network. This represents all the health organisations in North Wales and advises on the development of appropriate services.
