**Legal Counsel - In House - Surrey - Hybrid - To £80k (dependent on experience)**

Consumer Finance arm of Retail Bank looking for an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to support the Head of Legal in providing accurate and timely advice to all areas of the business and ensure thatstrategic and business objectives are delivered withlegal risks monitored and controlled. To alsoanticipate, review and implement new legislative requirements affecting business and to ensure the profile oflegal risk management remains as priority within the business.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Act as a point of contact for the business on legal matters and advice
- Review relevant laws and regulation and actively collaborate with other functions andstakeholders on the timely implementation of requirements or changes
- Advice on interpretation and impact of relevant laws/regulation affecting the company
- Draft and review commercial contracts, partner arrangements, supplier agreements andother documentation (from inception) and transact accordingly in a legally compliant mannerin accordance with company policies and business requirements and keep appropriaterecords
- Assist in regulatory landscape horizon scanning
- Provide support to project initiatives and programmes, including reviewing requirementsdocumentation and making recommendations from a legal advisory perspective.
- Manage and coordinate relevant external legal support
- Deal with or escalate any identified risks in relation to consumer risk policiesand/or legislative and regulatory guidelines in accordance with the UK group risk framework
- Assist the Head of Legal, the Legal & Compliance Director or the Compliance team inensuring effective governance is in place, such as reviewing and drafting policies, procedures, committee terms of references, drafting relevant committee documents and minutes
- Assist the Head of Legal, the Legal & Compliance Director or the Compliance team with anyrelevant corporate governance or company secretarial requirements

**What we’re looking for**
- Qualified Solicitor/Barrister/Attorney/FCILEX-2-5yrs PQE with demonstrable experienceworking for an in-house legal department of a large organisation or law firm
- Experience advising on legal compliance matters including GDPR, competition, anti-briberyand corruption, sanctions and money laundering regulations
- Experience in reviewing and drafting commercial contracts including procurement, supplier and intermediary relationships
- Digital and ecommerce legal and regulatory knowledge and experience
- Knowledge and practical experience of Consumer Credit and/or Retail Financial Services isadvantageous
- Experience of project management and delivery of proposals/ presentations to SeniorManagement
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders internal and externaland at all levels
- Good report writing and IT skills
- Excellent time management
