If you are a compassionate person wanting to make a difference to someone's life, working with the YMCA Robin Hood Group as a Housing Duty Worker could be just the position for you. With no formal qualifications required, we are looking for your understanding, empathy and responsible nature to oversee the smooth running of our Shakespeare Street Hostel.
This is a dual role where you will oversee the smooth running of our building while also giving our residents support and care if required. Our Housing Duty Workers are at the heart and soul of our housing team; being the first person most of our residents come into contact with. You will be there to support them or signpost them to get the help they need but also oversee the smooth running of the building in general.
You will be share in our belief that everyone should have a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become.
Being a Housing Duty Worker is one of the busiest and most varied roles in our service; you will cover everything from support work, incidents, administration, security, fire safety, cleaning support, and anything else that might crop up while you are on shift.
With specific interest in supporting young people, you will enjoy variety, loves being busy and thrives off never being able to predict exactly what will happen that day
You will support our residents by:
- Being there to provide advice and assistance
- Providing keys/replacements where needed.
- Collecting rent payments and dealing with queries or charges relating to rent payments
- Taking the time to ensure they understand their tenant obligations and their rights and responsibilities as outlined in the License Agreement
- Taking payments
- Providing first aid
- Responding to fire alarms
- Being a first point of call when dealing with incidents, including emergencies, including liaising with the police and other agencies to prevent damage/harm to our residents and buildings.
- Crisis Management and incident reporting.
- If needed, undertake facilities/domestic duties to maintain the upkeep of our building.
You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hour per week. We work on a 3 week rolling rota so you would have advance warning of your shift patterns.
The weekly shift patterns are:
7am - 3pm
3pm - 11pm
11am - 7pm
We have made sure our shift patterns are fully accessible by public transport no matter what time you start or finish.
We have our own team of weekend Housing Officers so there is no need for you to work weekends, unless you wanted overtime
Why Work for Us?
We are looking for someone ideally with experience or interested in gaining experience working in supported housing with vulnerable adults and young people aged 16-24 years old.
However, we are also happy and able to give you the training and development to start your career in Housing.
