Pre-school Assistant Job Description
Job title: Pre-school Practitioner
Responsible to: Pre-school Deputy/Manager
Responsible for: None

Hours of work 14-19hrs a week

Monday 8.45 - 1.30, Tuesday 8.45 - 1.30 Wednesday 11.45 - 4.45 and Thursday 8.45 - 1.30

Purpose of the job: To work as part of the pre-school team under the direction of the pre-school Manager to provide safe, high quality education
and care for young children. To maintain a stimulating and enjoyable
environment.

Main duties
1. To assist with the weekly planning of the curriculum.
2. To help set up the room/s for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of the session, ensuring that all toys and equipment are clean and safe at all times.
To assist with Hover support for a SEN child ( rota basis with other staff)
4. To advise the pre-school Manager of any concerns e.g. over children, child protection, parents/carers or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
5. To be aware of any special needs a child may have and to familiarise oneself with relevant play and learning plans.
6. To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation.
7. To attend staff meetings.
8. To attend in-service training courses and meetings as required.
9. To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is acquired as part of the job.
10. To keep up-to-date with current good practice.
11. To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Pre-school Manager, in accordance with the pre-school business plan/objectives.

1. Willingness to learn.
2. A satisfactory enhanced CRB check which confirms suitability to work with children.
3. Previous experience of working with young children.

7. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
8. Good customer awareness.
