Wine Lister is looking for an outstanding Head of Data & Research to join our fast-growing fine wine consulting agency.

Wine Lister was founded in May 2016 and has rapidly become a key player in the fine wine ecosystem, serving various audiences, including producers (from Harlan Estate to Château Lafite) and wine merchants (such as Berry Bros. & Rudd and Farr Vintners), through its fine wine analysis and consulting. Wine Lister is a subsidiary of Groupe Figaro, France’s leading national media group.

WHAT WE DO

Wine Lister uses a rich array of data and purpose-built algorithms, combined with qualitative insights and fine wine market expertise, to offer bespoke analysis and consulting services to fine wine producers. We provide strategic advice from benchmarking, through distribution and pricing assistance, through to full-service marketing and brand strategy. Wine Lister’s Pro Subscription provides the fine wine trade with invaluable market data and real-time insights.

JOB SUMMARY

Working directly with the CEO and other members of the team, the Head of Data & Research will play a vital role in Wine Lister’s continued growth. You will drive the continued development of Wine
Lister’s data-driven offerings, whilst overseeing the production of a broad range of custom reports for Wine Lister’s impressive base of fine wine producer clients. This will include owning several client accounts and managing key relationships.

- Salary: £38,000-£48,000 dependent on experience

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Bespoke consulting o Perform and project-manage qualitative and quantitative data analysis, including data visualisation, spanning standard benchmarking and bespoke consulting o Lead analysis of current internal data streams, including critic scores, brand metrics, and pricing data, and lead consideration and onboarding of new potential internal data sources o Manage primary data sourcing and proprietary research, including via the creation, sending, and response management of surveys o Oversee implementation of data analysis best practices across wider team
- Product development o Define business requirements for product development, both in response to novel client requests as well as broadening the scope of current products
- Research and develop proficiency in new platforms and technologies capable of delivering new professional services / products o Manage product design specifications process, testing, and quality assurance processes in conjunction with developers o Cultivate relationships with business and technology partners as needed to collaborate on new products and/or data sources to serve those products
- Business development o Work to develop sales opportunities across the Wine Lister brand, including networking, trade shows, pitches, and building proposals o Collaborate on new sales materials and brand messaging Wine Lister’s service offering continues to grow and develop

SKILLS REQUIRED
- Data and technology skills: experience managing and manipulating large datasets, thanks to advanced Excel skills and a base knowledge of SQL and VBA
- Presentation expertise: experience transforming data into meaningful charts and infographics, using Excel, PowerPoint and data visualisation tools such as Tableau
- Product development: experience with product development and its related methodologies and tools (SCRUM, Agile, Jira, etc.)
- European languages: native-level English required; fluent French desired; Italian would be an advantage
- Fine wine market knowledge: a solid understanding of the international fine wine market

ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

- Organisation: highly focused, methodical, and rigorous, with precise attention to detail
- Numeracy & literacy: possessing an excellent grasp of figures and quantitative analysis, as well as exceptional communication skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Top grades through to degree level
- Pre-existing knowledge of wine, particularly the fine wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy,

Champagne (also Italy, Germany, Spain, California, etc.)
- Management experience, organising and delegating multiple workflows across other team members, seeing projects through to completion

HOW TO APPLY
