The High Energy Physics group in this university's Department of Physics has a vacancy for a Research Laboratory Electronics Technician to provide all aspects of electronics engineering support for state-of-the-art analogue and digital electronics for currentand future particle physics experiments.

This is an exciting, full-time opportunity to make important contributions to the large LHC detectors at CERN and other research institutions and to contribute to the management and development of the electronics workshop facilities in the High Energy Physicsgroup.

You will provide all aspects of electronics engineering support for the research activities in which the group is engaged. The role is unusual in that you will undertake tasks and projects working alongside a number of academic and research staff. You mustbe competent in a wide range of disciplines, have a higher degree of computer literacy, be expert in one or more computer-aided design packages and must extend and enhance your skills to reflect rapid advances in technology. Further responsibilities include:providing training and advice on the use of the surface mount assembly equipment within the group and interacting with external collaborators and suppliers of goods and services.

You will become a key member of the HEP group and have an ability to respond to requirements as projects evolve. Collaboration with engineers and physicists in Cambridge and from other institutes is an important part of this job and excellent communicationskills are essential.
