The opportunity

Bloomsbury Children’s Books are looking for a Children’s Publicity Assistant.

This role includes supporting the Children’s Publicity team with general publicity administrative tasks to ensure the day-to-day smooth running of the team.

Bloomsbury Children’s Books celebrated list is home to perfect picture books, page-turning middle-grade adventures, blockbuster YA fantasy and award-winning non-fiction. Its award-winning, diverse list includes authors such as Brigid Kemmerer, Catherine Doyle, J.K. Rowling, Jessie Burton, Katherine Rundell, Neil Gaiman and Renée Watson, illustrators such as Chris Riddell, Emily Gravett, Jim Kay, Kate Pankhurst, Rikin Parekh and Tom Percival, as well as breakout voices such as Ben Bailey Smith, Lesley Parr, Kalynn Bayron and Melissa Cummings-Quarry and Natalie A. Carter. We are also home to the most famous children’s book brand in the world: Harry Potter.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Children’s Publicity, the incumbent will:
Provide administrative and campaign support to the Publicity team. This includes diary scheduling, processing invoices, booking author travel, inputting spend on budget, organising mailings, accompanying authors and illustrators to events and interviews

Ownership of some publicity campaigns, to develop skillset and knowledge of campaign work, and contribute to the wider department

**Need to know**:
Excellent organisational and timekeeping skills to deliver tasks within deadline

Great attention to detail

Keen interest in social media and new media to be abreast of changes in the market place

Strong verbal and written communication skills required for copy editing, writing of press releases etc.

Strong relationship building skills, internally and externally, to build on and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Passion for reading to keep abreast of the books Bloomsbury publish as well as the trends in the market place

Additional information

The role is a full-time permanent position with an annual salary of £23,000

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP however, as all Bloomsbury employees are currently working from home, this role will also be based from home until our offices re-open on a mandatory working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are: Monday and Tuesday
