We are very keen to hear from Non-Medical Prescribers with a V300 prescribing qualification who have a background in treating children and/or adults with neurodevelopmental disorders using pharmacological interventions.

This post is suitable for a Clinical Nurse Specialist/Non-Medical Prescriber with appropriate CAMHS and/or Adult Community Mental Health experience and registration along with substantive neurodevelopmental disorders experience. The successful applicant will have significant experience in the assessment and treatment of young people and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders and moderate mental health problems with a primary focus on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The post holder would need to be a qualified Independent Non-Medical Prescriber with experience of assessing, diagnosing, treating and monitoring patients with ADHD.

Brief Outline of Responsibilities
- To provide diagnostic assessment, as well as, post-diagnostic advice and consultation to patients, families, carers, and colleagues. To provide time-limited individual and group-based intervention, education, and coaching related to mental health/neurodevelopmental symptomatology.
- To undertake specialist assessments with people with neurodevelopmental disorders in particular ADHD and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. These will be based on the interpretation of complex data from a range of sources, including; self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, families, and others involved in the service user’s care.
- To make highly skilled decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and treatment models and developmental processes that have shaped the individual and their family.
- To provide interventions directly and indirectly, including post-diagnostic educational sessions using a variety of different models.
- To make independent referrals for diagnostic tests and/or opinions and treatment.
- To exercise full responsibility and autonomy for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients, including those with the most complex presentations, ensuring appropriate assessment, intervention, and communicating with the referrer and GP on a regular basis.

In addition, the post holder will independently undertake detailed ADHD assessments and be able to confidently diagnose and initiate pharmacological interventions based on their own detailed assessment. The post holder will also conduct regular medication reviews and write to GP prior to initiating shared care arrangements.
