We are looking for a genuinely passionate and committed person to join our team as a Waking Night Support Worker at our new Children’s Home provision.
**PLEASE NOTE**: _Unfortunately, due to our company not holding a sponsorship license, we are unable to recruit anyone who requires one._

**Induction**:
When you start, you will participate in a 17 day Induction Course which will include training in various areas of residential care delivery before you start direct work with the children and young people and this includes a three-day physical intervention training course.
**Role & Responsibility**:
As a Waking Night Support Worker you will have proven experience of residential childcare and supporting the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager and Senior Support Workers in the running of the Children’s Home during the night, caring for vulnerable children and young people between the ages of 12 & 17 years.
You will promote a caring environment, providing the highest levels of person-centred care, meeting the individual needs of the children and young people. You will ensure that everyone is treated with respect and dignity and support everyone’s right to privacy, independence and choice.
The role will include responsibilities around supervising the children and young people, key working and monitoring and evaluating the care that we deliver as well as providing support for the children and young people during the night. It will also include domestic duties such as:
- Housework
- Ironing
- Cleaning
- Laundry
You will complete the required paperwork, checks and health and safety duties as well as ensuring that home is clean and tidy and preparing the breakfast table in time for the morning shift when they start at 07:30am.
You will engage and support the children and young people with any issues they present with in the night, promote a good night’s sleep and understand processes in behaviour management.
**Supervision**:
You will be supervised by our Registered Manager, provide leadership and inspiration to the children and young people we look after. You will support and promote an environment which embraces equality and diversity in terms of both your colleagues, visitors and the children we look after. You will support and promote the therapeutic approach we have to children’s residential care, adhering to the requirements of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, Care Standards Act and other legislation as well as ensuring we deliver in terms of our Statement Of Purpose.
There is an element of lone-working with the young people and this will be fully risk-assessed by the Registered Manager however 2 x members of the day shift will sleep-in each night to provide support should you need it.
**Contribution to the development of the service**:
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the on-going development of the home through focus groups, reflective practice, regular team meetings and access to our therapeutic provider.
You will also be willing to undertake any reasonable additional tasks that the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager or Senior Support Workers ask of you.
**Schedule**:
You will work a rolling rota with a fixed shift pattern of two nights on, two nights off. You will start at 21:00 and finish at 08:00 and receive regular days off.

**Required Skills and Experience**
Ability to successfully care for Looked After Children in a residential childcare environment - ESSENTIAL
Ability to work as part of an integrated childcare team and demonstrate excellent leadership skills - ESSENTIAL
Ability to engage with children and young people with emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties as a result of adverse childhood experiences, mental health issues, domestic abuse, substance misuse, sexual abuse and learning difficulties - ESSENTIAL
Ability to work in partnership with various professionals from the wider team around the child and to engage with the families and carers of the children and young people - DESIRABLE
Excellent verbal and written communication skills - DESIRABLE
Proficient in ICT - DESIRABLE
Ability to prioritise workload - DESIRABLE
Demonstrate clear understanding of The Children’s Home Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, Ofsted’s inspection framework and other legislation and statutory/non-statutory guidance - DESIRABLE
