Minibus Driver

Permanent role - 20 hours pw. £11.36 p/h

Come and work for this highly acclaimed charity based in Winsford. You’ll join a small team of highly skilled and caring drivers enabling our disabled staff to commute to and from work.

You will be highly responsible, very punctual and reliable. You will be experienced and confident driving large minibuses.

You will be empathetic, caring, have attention to detail, and probably have some experience of working in a caring role. You will be a practical and calm person.

You will preferably have a First Aid qualification and understand the need for confidentiality and awareness of safeguarding principles.

The role will involve early morning starts and split shifts.

Driving license D1 preferred but not essential.

Disability confident.

Must have a proven record of driving minibuses.

Here at the Neuromuscular Centre, you will be responsible for the transport of some of our most vulnerable members of staff and our wider community. You are not just a driver you become part of the passenger’s support team and as such you must be empathic, caring and patient.

Reporting to the transport coordinator you will be expected to provide a professional, safe, efficient and reliable transport service. This will require you to work split shifts.

You will be leaving early in the morning to pick up a staff member and then dropping them off at the Centre. Later in the day you will be required to pick them up from the Centre and return them safely home. The driver will be required to help passengers on and off the bus and accompany them to their front door if necessary. Those staff members who are in wheelchairs will need to be safely secured in the vehicle.

Drivers are ambassadors for the charity and should always be customer, safety focused and courteous.

**Main Responsibilities and duties**:
**1. Overall Job Purpose**
- To ensure high standards of customer service are applied at all times.
- To adopt and follow all safe driving practices at all times.
- To drive the vehicles on the routes assigned as and when required. To be responsible for the day to day safe driving operation of the vehicle, and staff. The driver may be required to help staff on and off the bus and accompany them to and from their front door when necessary.
- To perform routine checks daily prior to the start of the shift, including, fuelling the buses. Reporting any concerns, problems, and defects with the vehicle or other matters.
- Ensuring vehicles are kept clean both inside and out.
- To always wear any PPE that has been issued.
- To be responsible for the security of the vehicle at all times.
- To pick up passengers according to running sheets and using /storing any personal information about clients in line with the Data Protection Policy at all times.

**2. Usual accountabilities**
- To receive, store and process data (in whatever form or medium such data takes - e.g. electronic and/ or documented) in a confidential manner and in accordance with the Company’s agreed data management policies.
- To attend all team and organisational meetings
- To promote the conduct and ethos of the Charity at all times
- To be fully aware of the Safeguarding Policy and procedures and to report any concerns in line with the policy.
- All members of staff are expected to be committed to the aims and objectives of the Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To attend any relevant team meetings and or training to support continued professional development
- The driver may be asked to carry out other duties as required. These duties will normally be compatible with the regular type of work. If the additional responsibility or task becomes a regular occurrence it will be included in the job description after consultation with the employee.

Drivers will be required to be flexible.

**Person specification**

**Qualifications**
- D1 Licence preferred but not essential.
- First Aid Certificate (willing to complete once appointed)
- Health and Safety qualification (willing to complete once appointed)

**Knowledge and understanding**
- Recent experience of working within a driving environment

Recent experience of Driving a Minibus

Or
- Previous experience of working within the charity sector
