**Bangladeshi Befriender**

Our client has been supporting older and vulnerable people in the borough of Tower Hamlets for 75 years. They have always cared for people as individuals, seeking to ensure their personal needs are met as they face old age, poorer health, loneliness, andloss of friends.

The befriending and advocacy services they provide, has changed with the needs of their clients and the circumstances in which they live especially in the last year during lockdown, when all services were delivered remotely. Whilst they have re-started faceto face visits, they will continue to adapt their services to ensure the safety of their clients, staff and volunteers.

They are looking for an individual with an excellent understanding of Bangladeshi Elders, to provide befriending and advocacy support (training will be provided) to older men and women in the borough, increasing their confidence, their mental well-beingand keeping them independent for longer. This is an exciting and varied role and requires a degree of flexibility and an ability to work on initiative. You will be helping to reduce social isolation and provide advocacy support to Older People in Tower Hamletsexperiencing loneliness. Responsibilities will include having a caseload of clients with whom you will undertake distant befriending (telephone, digital, letter writing), visiting clients in their homes (full PPE will be provided), organising group activitiesboth in person and digitally, undertaking reminiscence activities with people living with dementia, and providing advocacy support and accompanying people to attend hospital appointments, undertake walks, as required.
