**Role Specifics**
The Specialty & Long Tail Reinsurance Reserving Actuary will report to the LMRe Reserving Lead, supporting the reserving and reporting of results of the Specialty & Long Tail Reinsurance metalines. Further responsibilities are listed below.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Support the GRSI Chief Reserving Actuary with the transition to the new operating model which will involve close collaboration with GRS actuarial colleagues as well as tactical and strategic process improvement initiatives.
- Use of accurate, sound, and innovative approaches in projecting and setting reserves (gross and net of outwards reinsurance on a US GAAP basis) that are consistent with those of GRS.
- Support the LMRe Reserving lead and the GRSI Chief Reserving Actuary in providing quarterly reserve analysis to the GRS leadership.
- Act as a trusted independent advisor to the business that communicates the quarterly reserve analyses with insight and confidence, grounded in technical rigor and objectivity.
- Collaborate across GRS Actuarial & Data Science Solutions and partner functions to share knowledge and improve business outcomes, embracing the One GRS culture and the team of teams approach to problem solving.
- Provide insights that are sought by the business to improve underwriting outcomes. Identify trends, areas of uncertainty, emerging risks and macroeconomic factors that could impact results and propose corrective action in a timely manner.
- Partner with Business Actuarial, underwriting, finance, claims and management in developing a common view of underwriting profitability by product, industry and region.
- Foster a culture of technical rigor, transparency, and consistency.
- Ensure that reserving processes comply with professional standards and the risk management framework, including controls, and regulatory and audit requirements.
- Be an inclusive leader committed to mentoring and developing team members to assume progressively senior actuarial and business leadership roles.
- Parameterisation and validation of reserve risk for the LMIE and LMAL capital models.
- Support the successful delivery of the Statement of Actuarial Opinion and statutory audits of the legal entities and support other regulatory reserving deliverables/enquiries.
- Seek opportunities to develop existing and new processes to ensure the LSM and LMRe processes are up-to-date and in line with regulatory requirements, to ensure that the deliverables of the Actuarial Function are timely, accurate and fit for purpose.
- Undertake your role with due regard to the prescribed responsibilities and regulatory requirements associated with the Actuarial Function - which may require undertaking appropriate learning & development.
**Skills and Experience**
- Fellow of the Institute and/or Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent)
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent senior stakeholder management, commercial acumen and ability to influence business decisions in line with strategic plans

- Flexibility to manage and prioritize various diverse, competing projects and have strong interpersonal skills to deliver outstanding support to our stakeholders.
- Ability to both work independently and as part of a wider team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders with different levels of skill, knowledge, experience and seniority
- High degree of self-motivation, maturity, and positive outlook
- Ability to work through periods of change and transformation
