**OVERALL OBJECTIVES**:
You will provide a support and advisory service to the management and operational teams on SHEQ matters in accordance with the dictates of legislation and Company policy to improve overall SHEQ performance.

**KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Compliance**
- Implement and monitor quality standards for operational activities.
- Create of SHEQ documentation such as SOPs, Checklists etc and take ownership of revision control.
- Ensure SHEQ is considered at all pre-commencement stages and relevant control measures identified.
- Carry out pre-planned site audits to ensure compliance providing feedback via the company’s reporting system.
- Assist in the development of risk assessments relating to SHEQ on an install-to-install basis.
- On a day-to-day basis ensure projects comply with statutory requirements and company standards whilst providing relevant guidance and advice.

**Provide effective support and advice**
- Work with the Operations Department to identify key milestones / high risk activities to identify risk during construction stage.
- Work with the Sales & Design teams during tender stage to ensure all relevant information is available and provided as requested.
- Highlight areas where poor practice and/or significant risk have occurred. Where necessary prevent works continuing on-site.
- Provide guidance and advice at pre-construction stage to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and company standards.
- Raise awareness on SHEQ issues through toolbox talks and briefings, delivering training where necessary.

**Documentation**
- Audit subcontractor paperwork and safe systems of work during construction phase.
- Assist with office audits and risk assessments.
- Produce site specific activity report weekly with key factors.
- Investigate incidents and producing detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement.
- You will work with internal and external stakeholders including clients, third part auditors and enforcing authorities.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**:

- You will be based at Head Office in Washington, however there will be travel including site visits required for the proper performance of duties.

**TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL HAVE/BE**:

- NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety or Environmental management or equivalent.
- Proven experience of working as part of a SHEQ team.
- Ability to interpret legislation and Approved Codes of Practice.
- Able to proactive support to operational business units.
- Possess to date knowledge of UK legislation in relation to SHE.
- Good level of numeracy.
- Computer literate in MS Office.

**DESIRABLE**:

- Suitable qualifications in either H&S, quality, or environmental management. E.g., NEBOSH General Certificate, IEMA etc.
- Proven relevant construction or engineering sector experience.
- Operation of ISO based systems.
- Experience of report writing.
- Able to develop strategies for improvement.
- Experience of working on renewable energy projects.
- In depth knowledge of electrical safety.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
