A unique opportunity has arisen in the Networking section of Information Services to appoint a Network Installations Supervisor.

The University operates a pervasive data network, providing wired and wireless access to services throughout the University campus, and underpins the delivery of the University’s teaching, research and administrative activities.

The successful applicant will join a small team of specialists responsible for the support, maintenance and development of the data network and related services. This role has specific responsibility for the copper and fibre optic cabling infrastructure which supports our operations, supervising the installation of new infrastructure services and maintaining the existing.

The post will be located within the Networking team. This is part of the University’s Information Services and is located in Curran Building in the University’s city centre-based John Anderson Campus.

A mixture of HPE/Aruba equipment is deployed in the core and edge, with Fortinet firewalls.

The role primarily involves the specification and surveying of new cabling infrastructure installations; the supervision of third party cabling contractors, monitoring their day-to-day activities; liaising with stakeholders regarding requirements, and with other key staff such as those from Estates and Security services; ensuring proper processes are followed and that health and safety requirements are met at all times; being involved with planning, design and development works with other members of the network team, and co-ordinating the rectification of faults.
