**Role Overview and Responsibilities**:
This position focuses on providing individualized pastoral support to learners with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, ensuring they can access learning effectively. Key responsibilities include:

- Pastoral Intervention: Work under the guidance of senior staff to deliver targeted pastoral support programs.
- Personalized Strategies: Collaborate with teaching staff to create and implement individualized plans that address SEMH needs and enhance learner engagement.
- Key Worker Role: Act as a Key Worker for designated learners, providing coaching, setting personalized targets, and liaising with parents, staff, and external agencies.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support School Ethos: Contribute to the academy’s vision, ensuring the welfare and safeguarding of all learners.
- Direct Learner Support: Supervise and support learners to ensure their safety and access to education, addressing their personal and social needs.
- Monitor Behavior and Progress: Track and report on learner behavior, attendance, and achievements, and implement interventions with key staff.
- Manage Learning Environment: Assist in preparing and organizing the classroom, maintaining educational displays, and ensuring a conducive learning space.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative duties, including maintaining records, photocopying, typing, and filing.
- Collaborative Planning and Feedback: Work with teaching staff to plan learning activities and provide regular feedback on learner progress.

**Essential Skills and Qualities**:

- Experience: Previous experience working with children and young people, especially those with SEMH needs.
- Education: GCSE level education or higher.
- Relationship Building: Ability to form effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Resilience and Adaptability: High resilience, adaptability to changing situations, and commitment to inclusive education.
- Administrative Proficiency: Strong administration skills and the ability to keep accurate records.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.

**Additional Duties**:

- Support Activities: Assist in supervising learners during breaks, lunchtimes, and on school trips.
- Policy Compliance: Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the welfare of all learners.
