Technical Release Associate

**The opportunity.**
We are a Solihull based FinTech looking for an office based technical release associate. The opportunity is to oversee the releases of our products to our different environments (Development, Test, Pre-Production, Production etc) in a controlled and structured manner.
You will work with some of the most supportive colleagues responsible for product development, engineering, testing, infrastructure & functional support. You will utilise and gain hands-on experience with the latest agile tools and processes including Atlassian’s JIRA, Bitbucket & Confluence, AWS services and automated test tools.
You will plan and implement our continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) in cooperation with your colleagues across the wider team.

**Key tasks**:
- Forward plan the release windows and cycles across our products with colleague’s support
- Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
- Coordinate release content with the product team and infrastructure team to ensure all types of changes are planned and managed
- Communicate all key release plans, commitments, and changes including release scope, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes
- Manage relationships and coordinate work between stakeholders (colleagues and 3rd parties)
- Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
- Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans
- Release Reporting
- Communicate release details and schedules to all stakeholders
- Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities
- Work with release engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges
- Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.
- Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
- Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment plans, checklists and early life support
- Develops scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms
- Maintain a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
**Key skills**:
- Excellent communication skills - ability to understand high level technical language and utilise in your everyday (making technical speak human speak)
- Excellent Excel skills - the ability to extract data, turn it on its head and spot patterns using the best of Excel
- Attentive to details - able to sequence, document and manage a sequence of dependencies (a plan) that forms the steps to a successful release
- Approachable - coordinate with the various colleagues and third parties needed to make a release a success - ensuring when things go wrong we are open to listening and understanding how to correct and improve next time
**Nice to haves**:
- Technical interest - any exposure in any of the tools mentioned would be ideal but aren’t necessary, an interest in any technology and no fear to get stuck in and try features/options (if you are openly curious about clicking an option to fully understand it’s consequences etc)
- Release process understanding - understanding the different terms, industry standard processes and sequences for an IT release methodology - either project based or business as usual (BAU)
