Job Overview:
To be responsible for the day-to-day financial processing management of CVCU services, ensuring and implementing an effective, accurate, compliant and robust financial processing framework for the operations of the credit union. This includes:

- Ensuring the activities of the CVCU are carried out to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. To be responsible for the implementation of Cardiff & Vale Credit Union’s policies and procedures, in compliance with relevant regulations and legislation.

2. To carry out daily, weekly, monthly and periodic financial transactions.

3. Performing all reconciliations of transactions, including bank, debtors and creditors management.

4. Posting journals, accruals and prepayments onto CVCU’s software, ensuring accurate and timely nominal account management.

5. Processing grant returns, income and expenditure, collating grant stats and liaising with grant providers.

6. Supporting the management of CVCU’s share, loan and other products.

7. Preparing and completing all month end and year end financial procedures and reports.

8. Assisting with the production and interpretation of monthly key performance management indicators for the management team and Board.

9. Assisting the Finance Manager with the preparation of annual budgets for income, expenditure, salaries, pensions and operational expenditure for Board approval.

10. Supporting the Manager and deputising in their absence to prepare and make payments for monthly staff salaries and pension scheme payments, and associated HMRC payments, in liaison with CVCU’s payroll administrators.

Managing CVCU’s member share and loan insurance, and liaising with CVCU’s

insurers and beneficiaries for individual claims.

11. Monitoring financial processes and ensuring continuous improvement and best practice to minimise financial risk to CVCU, including fraud and financial crime.

12. Overseeing the processing of the Member Services team and providing a rolling programme of robust financial processing training and support to the wider team.

13. Provide assistance as required to service the functions of the Finance and Treasury Subgroup, as directed by the Finance Manager.

14. Monitoring debt reports and supporting the credit control team to prevent and minimise bad debt.

15. Undertake a range of procurement-related duties, as directed by the Finance Manager, striving for cost saving opportunities. Management of CVCU’s internal payment methods for members, including phone and online payments.

16. Adhering to CVCU’s policies and procedures, and Customer and Team Charters

17. Liaising with payroll partners to ensure the smooth running of CVCU’s payroll schemes.

18. To carry out any other duties as directed by the line manager in furtherance CVCU and individual objectives and policies.

General Responsibilities:
1. To be responsible for your own Health and Safety and observe all regulations in relation to the Health and Safety at Work Act.

2. Act with fairness in dealing with all members, directors, staff and volunteers, complying with the Credit Unions Equal Opportunities Policy.

3. To be responsible in following the Data Protection Act and Money Laundering regulations in dealing with members’ information.

4. As a term of your employment, you will be a representative of the Credit Union and you may be required to undertake additional tasks, duties and responsibilities within your capabilities and may be asked to undertake an alternative job on a temporary basis. However, you will not ordinarily be assigned to duties or required to perform services which you cannot reasonably perform or are outside the range of your normal skills and experience. This will be at your initial place of work or based at any other establishment.
