King's Lynn, United Kingdom The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The post holder will lead the strategic and operational estates and facilities management input into the scheme, optimising safety, sustainability, resource management and the transformation of hard and soft FM services to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.

The Trust is planning a major rebuild of the Hospital. The current estimated capital cost of circa £900m. The Trust intends to develop a facility that is exemplary in its design, sustainability and wider regeneration and economic value. The Strategic Outline Case was approved in spring 2021 and the Trust will seek Outline Business Case approval by July 2025 with Full Business case approval by September 2026. It is the Trust’s desire to move at pace with the construction of this development to have commenced works on the site by mid-2026.

Our Trust Values guides appropriate behaviours of all colleagues and enable us all to be accountable for our actions and will be ingrained within our revised appraisal and recruitment processes.

Collaborate with the Transformation Lead and Operations Lead to ensure that the estate and facilities support patient care and operational needs.
- Oversee the maintenance and management of hospital buildings, including fire safety, security and compliance.
- Develop an Estates and Facilities Management strategy and approach that involves maintenance, safety, security, and efficient use of resources.
- Assess the readiness of all hard and soft FM services, coordinating and executing plans to bridge gaps as required.
- Work with the other Transformation Leads to deliver the designed layout of the scheme’s clinical spaces to ensure patient safety and maximise the efficiency of their care.
- Work with the Design & Construction Lead to ensure proper design, install and effective maintenance of the water supply, heating, ventilation, electrical, air-conditioning (HVAC), and medical gas systems and ensure effective commissioning of all building and engineering services.
- Develop and enforce protocols for responding to air quality issues, including the identification and mitigation of potential airborne diseases within the hospital-
There’s never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH. We’re working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2030 and we are also carrying out on one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we’ve ever undertaken.

Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.

At The QEH we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs.

We are an ambitious organisation that upholds our values of kindness, wellness and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, recently demonstrated in our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating our services as ‘Good’, and we are proud to be a place to learn and grow through recognised learning and apprenticeships.

We recognise and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, priding ourselves on a community atmosphere and positive team spirit. We have approx. 530 beds across 33 wards and have newly built education and training facilities, a range of modern award-winning centres alongside a talented team of people ready to give you a warm welcome. We love working here and think you will too.
