Matron of Perioperative Pathways
We are looking to recruit an experienced, talented and ambitious Matron for Perioperative and assessment pathways, as part of the PAAT Directorate with strong leadership skills as we continue to build on our reputation for delivering high quality, well-led services in a hospital that is rated as “GOOD” by the CQC.
You will work directly with the Clinical Director, and Directorate manager as well as nursing, allied health professionals and administrative teams - giving you direct control of all processes relating to patient pathway management. You will lead nursing teams working on within the Adult day surgery Unit (ADSU) Chesterman admission suit, Pre-operative assessment and the perioperative pathway. This is a challenging role with an accent on delivering both local and national standards within the speciality.
The Planned Care Group provides services at five hospital sites with a total 38,500-day case/in patient episodes of care together with outpatient activity of 300,000. The Care Group is led by the Care Group Director supported by and working in partnership with the Care Group’s Director of Operations, Director of Nursing, Director of Finance and People & Change Manger.
You will need to be enthusiastic, committed and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will work closely with your clinical teams as we work together to take the Care Group forward and develop our services for the future. A key part of the role will be developing and supporting a Care Group culture of managers and clinicians working together to lead teams for the benefit of patients, and making things happen through an action orientated approach.
Given that we have a high CQC rating and are embarking on a new stage of strategic working with the ‘Improving Together’ programme, there is wide scope for working with clinical teams to develop services into the future working in partnership with our providers via the Integrated Care Service. A track record in the development of new services, pathways and workforce innovation programmes would be a significant advantage. As a Care Group we are committed to improving perioperative care for our surgical patients from the moment surgery is contemplated, until full recovery.
The perioperative team is currently transforming the preparation of patients prior to surgery. We are developing a prehabilitation service, bring together digital innovation, health coaches, cancer nurse specialists and community services. Together with our fully digital preoperative assessment team, we are working to ensure our patients are prepared physically and psychologically for surgery to achieve the best health outcomes and experience. The team is collaborating with Primary Care and other acute providers in the Integrated Care System to streamline our services and share ideas on how to use our resources as efficiently and effectively as possible.
