To assist the Group Manager in leading Team members, coordinating and delegating workflow and overseeing day to day operation of the Test & Development Workshop, promoting cooperative team relationships, establishing, and modifying priorities, gathering metrics, generating reports, overseeing work for multiple job classifications, etc. The Team Lead is expected to be 50% hands on support of product development projects related to New Technology (NTI), New Product (NPI) and Continuous Product Improvement.

**Job Duties/Responsibilities of a successful Team Leader**:

- Monitor and improve shop floor safety whilst eliminating unsafe processes
- Drive safety first culture and be responsible for ensuring that thorough accident and near miss investigations are completed and corrective actions taken, ensuring that all personnel within the area adhere to all safe working practices
- Interface with customer and coordinate voice of customer to Test & Development Workshop team to improve processes
- Regularly lead problem-solving events to drive continuous improvement
- Be visible and accessible to their team members and to lead by example including the Caterpillar Code of Conduct
- Create a communication environment that encourages high quality, proactive and open discussion through personal dialogues and team briefings.
- Generate and work on Continuous Improvement ideas for your assigned area using the Continuous Improvement (CI) process
- Undertake training and further learning as required for the job
- Ability to work overtime when required
- The role is expected 50% of the time directly supporting the team’s practical tasks.

**Skills, experience & qualifications you must have**:

- Strong Communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with co-workers and customers
- Continuous improvement mindset, results driven
- Ability to plan work for self and others in a dynamic working environment, safely and efficiently.
- Excellent product knowledge, Articulated Trucks.
- Lifting and slinging procedures; use of overhead cranes
- Problem solving and decision making
- PC skills (Microsoft office)

**Skills, experience & qualifications you may have**:

- Experience of working on other CAT products or similar heavy plant (e.g., loading shovels, excavators, track type tractors etc)
- Previous team lead and training experience would be a plus
- Knowledge and/or experience of Lean 6 Sigma tools and techniques
- Operator licence for FLT
- NEBOSH/IOSH qualification and/or can demonstrate a positive attitude towards safety
- Budget management and material planning
