We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Orthoptist to join our friendly team of 11 orthoptists, 1 Orthoptic Assistant, 4 Ophthalmic Technicians and 5 Optometrists working alongside 15 Ophthalmologists, across Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

Applications are invited from experienced and recently qualified Orthoptists wishing to gain further experience in a varied clinical workload; Adult and Paediatric Orthoptic clinics, Joint Orthoptic and Consultant Motility and Paediatric Ophthalmology Clinics, School Vision screening, Community Clinics, Visual field assessment (Humphrey field analyser, Octopus 900) and Optical Coherence Tomography.

The Ophthalmology, Optometry and Orthoptic Dept at CHFT prides itself on being a modern, innovative and well integrated department who provides friendly compassionate care across all of our sites in line with the Trust values.

Our objectives include transforming and improving patient care through technology, keeping the base safe, preparing a workforce for the future through technology enablement, and contributing towards our financial stability.

We provide a large numbers of ophthalmic subspecialties, emergency and routine care and a wide range of diagnostic services.

To provide Orthoptic services as an autonomous practitioner, working under the clinical supervision of senior Orthoptic colleagues.

To independently investigate, diagnose and manage patients referred to the Orthoptic department.

To perform Visual Field analysis using the Humphrey field analyser

To carry out Orthoptic Vision Screening in the community.
