MIDDAY ASSISTANT - NURSERY - Required for September 2023

Band 1, Points 2 - 3 (£20,441 - £20,812), Pro Rata: £2,953 - £3,007 per annum

1.25 hours per day over lunchtime, Monday to Friday

Fixed-Term 1 Year, Term time only, 6.25 hours per week

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic, confident and caring person to join our friendly team. The role involves supervising a small group of nursery pupils during lunch-time.

Heyes Lane Primary School is one of the largest three form entry primary schools in Trafford; our team of talented and committed staff ensure that learning is engaging and inspiring and because of this, our pupils make excellent progress and reach high standards. Lessons and the curriculum are designed to give our pupils plenty of time to acquire good skills and to become fluent in their understanding and use of these skills so that their minds may be freed up to reason, apply, invent and create. We pride ourselves on our happy, supportive and safe environment and know that pupils at Heyes Lane Primary School are being supported to grow into responsible, caring and confident young people.

The duties will include:

- Supervision in the dining hall of a group of nursery children - promoting positive behaviour and fostering positive relationships.
- To encourage children to use table manners.
- To assist and encourage children to eat their packed lunch, as required.
- To deal with health and safety issues, such as cleaning tables, mopping up spillages, etc.
- Leaving the dining hall in a clean and tidy condition.
- Supervision of children in the playground during lunch time.
- In the case of nursery aged children, assist with toileting requirements as necessary.

The successful applicant will:

- Have experience of working with younger children (infants).
- Have a friendly but firm manner.
- A tactful, patient approach when supervising the children.
- An awareness of the need for confidentiality.
- An awareness of health and safety factors in the school environment.
- A willingness to undertake training as appropriate.
