With additional student contact and involvement in examinations being an accredited exam centre.

The Cumberland Infirmary itself is a hospital of around 450 beds which continues to offer a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services due to its geographical location.

The paediatric department here is a part of the NCIC Paediatric Department which also comprises the Acute Paediatric Ward in West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven and Community Paediatric Service providing community paediatric care throughout Cumbria.

It goes almost without saying that with the Lake District on the doorstep there are ample opportunities for a variety of leisure activities. Students and faculty are often to be found hiking, fell running, paddling, mountain biking and swimming their way around Cumbria in their spare time.

The hours of duty will be 40 per week if undertaken on a full time basis and will be remunerated according to the level of previous experience.

Teaching Fellows are attached to a clinical team negotiated at the time of commencement of the post for an average of one day per week and there are no "unsociable hours" or weekend responsibilities associated with the post.

According to the post holder's preferences and previous clinical experience, opportunities may arise to undertake out of hours working, however, there is no planned on call commitment for this post and any additional work should not in any way compromise the delivery of undergraduate education.

The post will be tenable on a whole time basis for a period of 12 months.
