JOB PURPOSE
Act as the lead and Subject Matter Expert on all alarms and UPS related issues. Planning and directing all activities for the operation and maintenance of the alarm systems and UPS across MPC and remote sites. Ensures facilities are maintained according to guidelines outlined in SOPs, all manufacturers recommendations for maintenance, all relevant JSPs and regulations
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as point of contact for communications between Mitie and end users for fire alarms and UPS systems, establish and maintain good working relationships with the MOD and civilian personnel
Ensure maintenance operatives follow the procedures and plans provided by the SoP and adhere to regulations at all times.
Overarching responsibility for the various alarm systems and UPS maintenance, ensuring the special systems service team complete all PPM and Help desk tasks within KPI's requirements
Organise power outages with end user to cause minimum disruption to the base. - Delegate functional activities to workers and establish supervisory schedules and responsibilities to ensure quality and timeliness of independent decisions required to provide continuous service to the client and safety of workers.
Line management responsibilities for the special systems services team
- Ensure adequate training of maintenance operatives as required to complete the day to day tasks.
Identify faults and order spares as required
Assists management with monthly/annual report of operations. Implement all Health, Safety and Environment plans and procedures and related regulatory plans.
Ensure the reliability of the Health & Safety of staff and maintain the proper records, and conduct periodic training for department.
Assist/coordinate/cooperate with audits and other assurance inspections
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations and decrease turnaround times.
Streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Report all defects, incidents and product non-conformities.
Willingness to attend and pass post training courses as required - Perform any other duties as requested by the Line Manager and Management Team
Duties/Responsibilities Alarms:
Supervise staff in the special system team
Installs, tests, and repairs security and fire alarm systems.
Consults with client on system requirements; provides system recommendations and cost estimates.
Uses blueprints or building plans to determine proper systems to install based on building layout and setting.
Runs wiring and circuits, installs hardware, and attaches electrical wires.
Inspects and tests systems, batteries, and electrical wiring; makes adjustments and repairs as required.
Replaces malfunctioning hardware when necessary.
Ensures systems comply with electrical and fire codes.
Explains and demonstrates system function and operation to end users.
Performs other related duties as required. - Required Skills/Abilities: o Extensive knowledge of security and fire alarm systems and installation.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. o Ability to read installation and system manuals.
Ability to read blueprints and building plans. o Extensive knowledge of electrical and fire codes.
Ability to use hand and power tools to install hardware.
Install and program control panels and all other equipment for fire alarm systems with the guidance of building plans and electrical layouts
Mount sensors at appropriate locations, performing all necessary tasks, such as drilling holes for cabling and accessing locations such as crawlspaces or attics to ensure optimal wiring layouts
Install all wiring to connect system components, complying with all applicable safety standards and with customer's concerns or preferences
Show customers how to use alarm system, discuss any questions or concerns and ensure customers are fully satisfied with the service they receive
Inspect and test systems to ensure all components are performing well and comply with safety requirements
Review installation manuals, building plans and work orders to plan optimal locations for system components and wiring
Identify and repair malfunctions in system components or wiring, including ordering and installing replacement parts as necessary
Compose and submit documentation and reports for each installation or repair visit, complying with company's standard operating procedure
Job Skills & Qualifications
Certification in Fire Alarm & Detection Equipment or equivalent
Proficiency in alarm panels
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Top customer service skills
Preferred:
Networking experience with security, CCTV systems or other
