We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced administrative staff to join the Pharmacy Chemotherapy Aseptic team at the University Hospital Lewisham.

We are a busy team providing chemotherapy medicines to patients across the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

You will be responsible for managing administrative activities to enable the team to provide an effective and efficient service, ensuring patients receive their medicines as scheduled.

You will need to have a high level of organisational and problem solving skills, and be able to provide professional administrative support.

1. To effectively manage and organise chemotherapy prescriptions and orders to support the workflow within the aseptic unit.
2. To be the initial point of contact for the chemotherapy day unit, clinicians and pharmacists, resolving non-clinical queries relating to chemotherapy treatment and referring clinical queries appropriately.
3. To support the senior technical staff to ensure that the section runs efficiently and is patient focused.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the pharmacy team at LGT. We are a large, busy department responsible for all aspect of medicines management across the Trust, including the two main hospital sites and community services in Lewisham. We work closely with other teams and healthcare professionals to ensure that patients get the right medicines at the right time.

You will be working with a supportive and friendly Pharmacy team, who are collectively responsible for the provision of chemotherapy medicines.

**Job Summary**:
1. To effectively manage and organise chemotherapy prescriptions and orders to support the workflow within the aseptic unit.
2. To be the initial point of contact for the chemotherapy day unit, clinicians and pharmacists, resolving non-clinical queries relating to chemotherapy treatment and referring clinical queries appropriately.

**Key Result Areas & Performance**:
Patient Care & Service Provision
- To effectively communicate with pharmacy colleagues and other healthcare professionals to answer routine and non-routine queries with prescriptions and orders, referring as necessary to a pharmacy technician or pharmacist.
- To provide non-clinical advice to staff working in other areas regarding scheduling restrictions and availability of chemotherapy.
- May occasionally take phone calls directly from patients, relatives or carers which should be referred as necessary to the appropriate person.

Workload Planning & Organisation
- As the point of initial contact with the cancer pharmacy team and chemotherapy day units, to exercise judgement when dealing with enquiries and analyse information to resolve problems for patients, carers and staff e.g. dealing with prescription changes or delays to treatment. Some of these queries will be complex and require onward referral to a senior member of the pharmacy team.
- To be responsible for the receipt of prescriptions and advanced orders, matching received prescriptions to those made in advance where applicable.
- To maintain and manage the chemotherapy diary, ensuring that prescriptions are entered into the correct day and times so that the manufacturing scheduling is accurate.
- Maintain a log of verbal and written change requests to ensure that all changes are actioned with accuracy and in a timely manner.
- To take meeting notes for team meetings and ensure that these are distributed to relevant team members.
- Be able to adapt to unpredictable workload and flow.

Staff Training
- Provides advice and demonstrates own activities or workplace routines to new or less experienced employees in own work area to ensure processes are maintained during periods of annual leave etc.

Performance Monitoring & Service Development
- To follow all current standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies relevant to the role.
- To complete required documentation and maintain records accurately.
- To collate and present of data relating to key performance indicators with the department.
- To be proactive in identifying improved and more efficient ways of working, making suggestions and contributing to pharmacy service improvements within the aseptic unit.

Use of Resources
- To be responsible for accurate data entry on the pharmacy computer system.
