Birmingham Healthy Minds is the local NHS Improving Access to
Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service commissioned in Birmingham. IAPT services support to those who have depression and anxiety disorders, including a range of other common mental health problems. Therapies are delivered within a stepped care model that is accessible, non-judgemental and responsive to local need. The service is available to those of 16 years and upwards.

The post holder will hold the correct qualifications and experience as listed in essential personal specification. The post holder needs to be prepared to do any additional training to acquire a recognised qualification in supervision, and be qualified, or working towards a qualification in supervision.

The post holder will be required to hold a senior role within a team of counsellors and therapists who provide talking therapies, counselling services to a broad range of patients who experience mild to moderate mental health problems that would benefit from counselling, with a focus on Counselling for Depression and other IAPT modalities as per the IAPT manual.

The post holder will work as part of an integrated multi disciplinary team comprising, counsellors, psychotherapists, psychological wellbeing practitioners, and trainees within the different disciplines.

The post will offer support to the successful applicant in respect of their professional development and supervision will be given in line with BACP requirements. The post holder will take a lead role, and be integral to the development of the counselling service and to raising the awareness of the benefits of counselling to other mental health professionals.
