Support Worker Job Description
Join our team as a Support Worker (Bank Staff) at Lonsdale Care Children's Home. We are seeking compassionate individuals to provide care and support to children and young people in a safe and nurturing environment. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in promoting their well-being and helping them thrive. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide emotional, physical, and social support to children and young people in the Children's Home.
- Ensure the safety and security of the children, following safeguarding procedures.
- Assist with daily routines, including personal care, meals, medication administration, and recreational activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individual support plans.
- Understand behaviour management strategies and support children in managing challenging behaviours.
- Maintain accurate records and effectively communicate with the team.
- Respond promptly to crisis situations and ensure the well-being of the children.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development opportunities.
**Requirements**:
- Full manual UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work on a zero-hour contract basis, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and sleep shifts.
- Experience working with children or young people preferred but not necessary.
- Compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to support children and young people.
- Ability to handle situations and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant background checks, including a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be issued by the company.
