Consultant Neonates

Gloucester, United Kingdom Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious colleague to work within our exciting, ever-expanding Paediatric Department, supporting the neonatal department as well as general paediatric elective care.

This substantive post has become available due to the retirement of an existing neonatal consultant and to expand the neonatal consultant workforce in order to meet BAPM Consultant Staffing guidance-this post is suitable for someone wishing to work less than full time (0.8 WTE) - there is opportunity to work on a full time contract if you have a further subspeciality interest (cardiology) or are willing to develop one in paediatric audiology / neurodisabiity / neurodevelopmental follow up or children's safeguarding. The post holders will also support general paediatric elective care too, including outpatient clinics.

These posts are part of the Department's strategy to maintain excellence across Neonates and Paediatrics.

Successful applicants will have a job plan that includes neonatal service weeks, neonatal on calls out of hours and during weekends (shared equally among neonatal consultants) in addition to outpatient clinics. We have separate general paediatric and neonatal rotas across all three tiers and you are not expected to contribute towards the general paediatric on call rota. These posts come with 1.5 core SPA time pro rata, which is equivalent to those of other Consultants within the Department.
