**_ About the role_**

We require, for a September 2024 start, an enthusiastic and highly committed SENCO teacher. As SENCO, you will take a creative approach to working with our pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises children’s achievement and ability to develop.

They will need to be willing to take The National Award for SEN Co-ordination which will be funded by the academy if they don’t already have it. This course will form a large part of the CPD and support for personal growth in the role. In addition there will support from the trust and from SLT within the academy. We will arrange a mentor from another school to support the in-coming SENCO.

The key features of the role are:

- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN policy;
- Coordinating provision for children with SEN;
- Advising on a graduated approach to providing SEN Support;
- Liaising with parents of children with SEN;
- Liaising with other schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and independent or voluntary bodies;
- Being a key point of contact with external agencies, especially the LA and LA support services;
- Liaising with potential next providers of education to ensure a young person and their parents are informed about options and a smooth transition is planned;
- Working with the head teacher and school governors to ensure that the school meets its responsibilities under the Equality Act (2010) with regard to reasonable adjustments and access arrangements.
- Ensuring that the school keeps the records of all children with SEN up to date.
- Working with SLT on the Academy Improvement Plan in relation to students with SEN needs
- Monitoring and evaluating provision and progress.
- Working with staff supporting them to try a variety of teaching approaches with students in their class with SEN needs.
- Delivering intervention sessions
- Teaching where appropriate (Approx 10 hours teaching)
