**The role**

We are looking for a creative, driven,Senior Communication’s Manager to join our new Strategy & Programme team to take the strategic lead in raising St Edmund’s College’s brand by developing communication strategy and related marketing strategy and annual plan.

This is a fast-changing, sometimes unpredictable role which will oversee all external communication activity and associated marketing for St Edmund’s College. The role will have shifting priorities and lead complex projects to position St Edmund’s as the College of choice for talented people with a global interest and passion to make a difference.

Taking a creative and digital-first approach, the Senior Communications Manager will be responsible for producing expert and compelling content in collaboration with diverse stakeholders, whilst understanding how strategic communication complements wider engagement and fundraising activity.

As a Senior Communication’s Manager you will be central to shaping and marketing this vision, sharpening our narrative to generate compelling content that raises the College’s profile, attracting new members and partners, and delivering the change we want to see.

This role calls for someone who can quickly establish and maintain effective and mutually beneficial working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, provide strategic guidance to senior leadership, and to give clear and honest advice and recommended approaches for both proactive and reactive communications.

- Proven organisational and project management skills
- Dedication to collaboration across programmes and with diverse internal and external stakeholders and with a proven ability to engage communities in content production and delivery
- Experience developing and delivering marketing and communication strategies and activity plans, ideally in the context of start-up or product/policy development
- A demonstrable understanding of the principles of marketing (including digital marketing) and PR
- A global interest and outlook, and experience of, or clear capacity rapidly to develop, successful global and local marketing and communication campaigns
- A commitment to audience-first communications and storytelling that delivers change with a proven track record of delivering full-service comms (digital, media, campaigns) including developing, implementing and evaluating campaigns
- Track record of successfully creating opportunities for coverage to boost an organisation's brand across national, local and specialist media including print and digital
- Honed analytical skills to interpret data and statistics to extrapolate positive messages for use in proactive communications, and to rebut issues
- Demonstrated understanding of how communications complements engagement and fundraising activities
- Proven leadership skills to manage, develop and motivate team members and colleagues by providing coaching, shadowing and ‘live' training.
- Experience and capability in digital design software and ability to generate high quality marketing collateral, including prospectuses, brochures, PPT presentations and infographics
- Experience of website development and oversight of maintenance
- Experience of successfully handling crisis communications to protect and guard reputation, including dealing with the UK and global media.
- Understanding of higher education and the competitive issues facing UK Universities globally (desirable)
- Degree / relevant qualification (desirable)
