CHOICES is a registered charity delivering trauma-informed long-term counselling and other therapeutic support to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

We are looking for an empathetic, client-centred mental health recovery worker to support clients on the CHOICES counselling waiting list to access other services in the community that might best meet their needs while waiting for counselling. In addition, support those who either end their counselling early through an inability to attend/stay connected, or who have come to the end of their counselling contract and are asking “What now?”

They will work closely with the small staff team to ensure that the clients receive the best possible treatment pathway for them.

The postholder may initiate additional services to meet clients’ needs based on client feedback and observation.

**JOB DESCRIPTION: Mental Health Recovery Worker**

**Purpose of your job**:to provide psychological and practical support to CHOICES clients.

**Accountability**: you are responsible to the Head of Services.

**Hours of work**: 20 hours per week. Job share considered.

**Salary**: £28,000 £30,000 per annum pro rata for part-time hours.

**Annual leave entitlement**: 25 days plus Bank Holidays - pro rata for part-time hours.

**Probationary period**: 3 months.

**Requirements of the job**:

- Liaise with local organisations to identify alternative resources that could be of benefit to clients
- Help to identify, support, and refer on clients who are not suitable for long-term counselling given current presentation and circumstances
- Arrange warm handovers where relevant, accompanying clients to initial assessment or meetings if required
- Continue to build database of relevant resources regarding mental health support provision throughout Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
- Become knowledgeable regarding referral options for benefits, debt advice and housing support options
- Represent CHOICES at meetings where relevant, as required
- Participate in outcomes measuring to monitor performance and improve future services
- Attend weekly team meetings and prepare reports as required
- Engage service users in future service planning
- Adhere to CHOICES’ Confidentiality policy, Data protection policy and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion policy

Additional responsibilities:
1. Comply with Health and Safety and Safeguarding requirements

2. Other ad hoc duties as required by the organisation.

- Good standard of education evidenced by relevant mental health qualification and/or a minimum of 2 previous years in a similar role E

**Knowledge and Experience**
- Experience of working with people with mental health needs E
- Knowledge of CSA and trauma informed support E
