**SENIOR INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER**

We are recruiting a senior infrastructure engineer for a growing legal firm that heavily invests on IT and innovation, as well as their staff's personal development and career.

**What we can offer**:

- 45-50k, depending on experience
- 25 days holiday
- Mostly remote work - travel to Leeds to meet the team may be expected at first, as well to fix serious on-call incidents (these are incredibly rare, however).
- On-call bonus, and travel to Leeds expensed if you need to fix a serious incident while on call.

**Responsibilities**:

- Establishing close working relationships with all members of the Infrastructure Team and provide mentoring to support the development of their soft and technical skills
- Developing, maintaining, and implementing new technical standards and policies while ensuring current ones are adhered to
- Provide advice and guidance in support of the Technical Design Authority on Infrastructure and Security concerns/queries
- Design, plan, implement & document infrastructure solutions in line with technical standards and policies
- Be a point of escalation within the team for incidents and service requests
- Working closely with the other IT teams, you will support the diagnoses and resolution of problems across the company's infrastructure.
- Provide peer review and guidance for the team's changes
- Provide advice and guidance regarding the latest technologies
- Ensure cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and 365 are implemented, monitored, and administrated to best practice
- Ensure that all tasks and procedures are carried out effectively and efficiently to agreed levels of service or specific requirements of Service Level Agreements.
- Identify and rectify a broad range of operational exceptions and error conditions and be required to deal sensibly and responsibly with unexpected or extraordinary events or incidents. Where these actions necessitate modification, restriction or completeremoval of resources or services available to the company, you will communicate with employees, specialists, and others, using appropriate ITSM tools and methods to inform and escalate where necessary.
- Create documentation of the supported systems and software.
- Participate in reviews of systems performance, provides advice, and assist specialists or other system or service providers to plan details of amendments and upgrades to systems.
- Ensure that procedures are followed, particularly those relating to safety and security.
- Identify gaps and new opportunities to improve the security posture of the IT Infrastructure. Plan and deploy solutions to meet these gaps/opportunities.
- Identify and implement solutions to improve infrastructure processes such as automation
- Support the Infrastructure Team Lead in the day to day running of the team and maintain a high-level knowledge of the whole team's current activities
- Provide out of hours support as a part of the on-call rota
- Travel to branch sites and datacenters will be required on occasion
- Overtime will be required to support incidents and implement changes out of business hours

**Skills required**:

- Great communication skills and the ability to adapt your communication style depending on the recipient, and well as knowing how to translate technical speak into a more approachable message for non-technical colleagues or 3rd parties
- Great interpersonal skills, and the ability to be an active part of a friendly and supportive team, and to mentor other team members
- Demonstrable relevant experience - ideally 5+ years of experience working within the IT infrastructure field
- Excellent working knowledge of Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy controls & audit logging
- Good working knowledge of device hardening frameworks such as CIS Benchmarking
- Ideally experience of working to security standards such as ISO27001, PCI, NIST or CIS
- Good working knowledge of security solutions such as Microsoft Defender suite, Symantec Endpoint Protection, Darktrace, Graylog
- Experience of implementing and managing hyperconverged infrastructure, ideally Nutanix
- Good understanding of networking technologies such as VPN, Cisco LAN, MPLS WAN, TCP/IP, FortiGate Firewall, Kemp Load balancers
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Azure technologies including design, implementation, and administration of Azure networking, storage, security and PaaS solutions.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft/Office 365 technologies including design, implementation, and administration of Exchange, SharePoint, MEM and other 365 features
- Excellent working knowledge of the design, deployment, and management of Microsoft Windows Server 2012 onwards, including Remote Desktop/VDI solution
- Good working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V, VMware and AHV.
- Good working knowledge of storage system design and deployment
- Experience implementing and administrating system management tools such as the System Centre suite, SolarWinds Orion and PRTG.
- Desirable:

- ITIL v3/4 Foundation
- Microsoft Azure/365 certification
- Degree or equivalent relevant certifications such as CISSP, Cisco CCNA, etc
- Experience working for a legal and/or financial company
