**How you'll make a difference**:
As a Deputy Registrar you will use your excellent people and customer service skills to support memorable experiences to people at key stages of their lives, registering births, deaths and marriages.

You will also be required to work addional weekends to register marriages at approved premises, based on a formula for each ceremony. This is based on 80 ceremonies per year, and you will be expected to be available for most weekends from April to end of July.

Initial training for the job will be based in our Kingswood office.

**What will you be doing?**
- As a Deputy Registrar you will be interviewing members of the public at the Yate Registration Office in order to register births, deaths and still births.
- You’ll be involved in registering marriages at approved venues throughout South Gloucestershire and occasionally in churches, private homes, hospitals and prisons.
- Daily you’ll be accounting for fees received, regular payments into the Council’s bank account and the care and control of registers, computer records and security stock.
- Occasionally you will undertake clerical and other relevant duties as may be required by the Superintendent Registrar.

**What we need from you**:

- 4 GCSE passes at Grade C or above, including English Language and Maths, and a relevant vocational qualification or experience and skills equivalent to NVQ Level 3.
- You will have considerable previous clerical work experience with dealings of face-to-face dealings with the public in a wide variety of circumstances.
- You will demonstrate considerable experience of IT and using standard MS Office programmes, with a willingness to learn to use other computer based systems as required.
- You will have meticulous care for detail and accuracy with clear, legible handwriting with proven ability to communicate courteously orally and in writing, particularly with members of the public.
- You’ll have proven ability to account for cash on a daily basis, and to prepare simple reconciliations.
