Minehead, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

As a Ranger, you’re the heart and soul of the National Trust in the landscapes we protect. You’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people.

The role sits within the Holnicote Landscape Recovery Scheme, and is part of the Countryside team in the Somerset portfolio working alongside a wider property team including Visitor Services, Business Support Enterprise (retail and catering) and Project Management roles supported by a property based consultancy including Rural Surveying and Building disciplines. You will be based on the Holnicote Estate on the north eastern edge of Exmoor National Park.

You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings, and be on call.

What it's like to work here:Working alongside the Holnicote Landscape Recovery, Riverlands and property team, you will deliver practical conservation work to protect and enhance the conservation status of the property and adjoining landscape. You will be a part of an exciting scheme, looking to conserve and enhance nature and businesses in the project area for the future.

What you'll be doing:You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.

The Holnicote Landscape Recovery Scheme is working to make more space for water and nature across the landscape, whilst working to develop sustainable business models for stakeholders (both internal and external). This role will have a strong monitoring focus, specifically the delivery of baseline assessments and other project related surveys.

You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.
