We are currently looking for a dedicated and proactive professional for the role of Group Environmental Officer to join our Group HSEQ team based at our Head Office in Inverness with frequent travel to other facilities within the Group.

**Job Purpose & Objective**

The Group Environmental Officer is dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint, in and above compliance to environmental regulations set by government. This role is multi-faceted and provides the opportunity to be involved at almost every level of carbon production across the Group.

Reporting to the Group HSEQ Director, the Group Environmental Officer is responsible for developing and implementing the Group's environmental/ sustainability Strategy, as well as collecting, interpreting, and interrogating data across Group wide operations to establish a base line for performance. Your task will then be to assure that the Group achieves environmental and sustainability goals set by you in collaboration with the executive management group (“EMG”).

Although primarily focused on environmental issues such as waste minimisation and reducing energy use, this role includes a requirement to work with suppliers to improve sustainability efforts in their own supply chains, creating better sustainability procedures across the Group, and creating internal programs and products that address environmental and social problems.

The Group Sustainability Officer is expected to be able and willing to work to the vision, strategy, and core values of the Group.

**Key **Accountability**

**Compliance / Risk / Opportunity Management**
- Ensure that the ENV Management System is fit for purpose - meeting regulatory, ISO14001 and client requirements.
- Ensure compliance across the Group in relation to ESOS, SECR and any future legislative reporting requirements.
- Support the Identification of business opportunities to enable clients to reduce their sustainability impacts.
- Subject matter expertise supporting operational teams.

**Improvement Plans**
- Benchmark similar organisations and client expectations in relation to environmental/sustainability targets and expectations and develop targets.
- Develop cost effective programme to achieve short, medium and longer term targets.

**Supply Chain**
- Review supply chain to identify where improvements can be made to improve environmental/sustainable performance.

**Training**
- Identify educational, training, or other development resources related to environment/sustainability and deploy appropriately.

**Internal / External Communication**
- Manage relevant external stakeholder relationships.
- Develop internal and external environmental and sustainability communications plan linking in with key dates throughout the year e.g. World Environment Day.

**Reporting**
- Develop environmental/sustainability reports, presentations, or proposals for supplier, customers or employees.

**Experience & Qualifications**
- Environmental Sciences
- Environmental Studies
- Surveying
- Engineering
- Construction
- Experienced at a professional level with a proven track record in a similar role within the energy sector, ideally within a fast-paced dynamic environment and ideally with proven Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance credentials.
- In-depth knowledge of current UK environmental policy, low or zero-carbon technologies, current trends in corporate reporting requirements in relation to sustainability and the environment.
- Experience in collecting data, interpreting data and reporting data relevant to our environmental performance as a Group.
- Familiar with collaborating with entities beyond the Group such as government, policy influencers, technology providers, suppliers, customers and competitors.
- Demonstratable experience in communicating with and influencing senior management and stakeholders.
