**Brighton College**is seeking to appoint 2** Boarding Matrons.**In return you will receive a competitve salary of**£25,560 per annum**(pro rata for part time).

**We are looking to cover the following roles**:

- Role 1) 40 hours per week, term-time 10 days- Role 2) 24 hours per week, term-time 6 days
**About the Boarding Matron role**:
We have a fantastic opportunity for Boarding Matrons to play a key role in ensuring the care of our pupils at Brighton College. The Matron’s role is one of supporting the wellbeing of pupils and ensuring the smooth running of the House.

You will have a genuine interest in working in a school environment and have a warm and helpful manner and have the ability to talk to pupils, parents and staff at all levels.

**Key responsibilities of our Boarding Matron**:

- To liaise with boarding house staff on any matters concerning the pupils and their welfare- Dealing with issues at the start of the day, e.g. Pupils late out of bed due to illness- Checking registration data and assisting with follow-up- Visiting pupils rooms regularly to check they are tidy and orderly, helping them develop strategies if they find this difficult- Being a presence in the house when academic staff are teaching- Meeting with the pupils to discuss any ideas to improve the House or solve any problems- Sewing for the pupils- Distribution of post to the pupils- Collating all the information for the matches on Saturday and liaising with catering regarding any special meal requirements- Collating Saturday activity sign ups and information- Meeting regularly with the Health Centre staff to discuss medical issues/pupils- Collating all the information from parents/guardians regarding exeat and holiday arrangements- Being available during the day to chat to pupils (especially at the start of the year when new boarders are settling in)- Be present on Open Days- Meet prospective parents when they visit the house
**Safeguarding responsibilities**:

- This role will involve daily contact with pupils and you will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children- All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for who you are responsible and with whom you come into contact
**Holidays**:
Holiday entitlement is included in the salary for this role. All holiday is to be taken outside of the working weeks listed above.
