Apprentice Fitter

Story Plant Ltd has an exciting General Maintenance Fitter apprenticeship opportunity based at our head office in Carlisle. This is an exceptional opportunity for learning invaluable skills in an exciting and rewarding environment.

As an Apprentice, you will work towards gaining a professional qualification whilst gaining practical experience in the repair and maintenance of plant and on track plant machines. You will be supervised and mentored by our experienced team who will support your development and progression.

As you step into the role of Apprentice Fitter you will learn a wide variety of skills, including:

- The basic principles of on track plant machinery systems
- The ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
- How to carry out maintenance inspections and repairs on plant machines and attachments
- How to service plant machines

We are looking for people who are interested in working in a fast paced and exciting environment where the challenge of the role frequently changes. You will be an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills and an eye for detail. You will be supported by a welcoming and inclusive team whilst you learn on the job and also attend college where you will work towards your NVQ qualification.

A good standard of education including Maths and English would be advantageous, however further support can be offered.
