**Teahouse Kitchen Porter - Position Purpose**

Petersham Nurseries require a full time Kitchen porter this will include working weekends - starting immediately to help to keep the kitchen running smoothly by making sure everything is clean, tidy, safe and hygienic. Responsible for washing up and maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness in all areas of responsibility. Role includes a number of additional duties including basic kitchen prep, ensuring the kitchen and the equipment are clean and tidy, general cleaning, unpacking and organising deliveries.

**Principal Accountabilities**

**Daily**
- Organise the dry storeroom/s and sanitise all fridges.
- Organise the chemical / changing room, sanitise/ defrost freezer.
- Unpack and check off new deliveries against delivery notes and raise any discrepancies with Head/ Sous Chef.
- Collecting and washing pots, pans, plates and cutlery.
- Getting pots, pans plates and cutlery back into use as quickly as possible.
- Washing and disinfecting kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls.
- Making sure kitchen equipment is properly stored.
- Removing and recycling waste from the kitchen.
- Before leaving ensuring KP area/ pass area is spotless/ cleaned down and all bins/ food removed.
- Assisting with ensuring recycling area is kept well organised and clean.
- Assisting with ensuring used cooking oil is stored and remove regularly.
- Where required help with basic food preparation before the kitchen or restaurant opens.

**System and Process**
- Maintain a productive and hygienic environment, ensuring your work area is clean and in order at all times.
- Keep your workstation sufficiently stocked throughout the day.
- Adhere to EHO and Health & Safety standards, as set out in the company Health & Safety policy using COSHH and HACCP precautions where necessary. All work carried out must meet required Health and Safety standards.

**Personal Qualities**
- Work in an efficient manner to ensure prompt turnaround time of washing and returning crockery and equipment to correct department.
- To ensure that a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained by following cleaning routines and through ongoing diligence during the shift.
- To represent Petersham Nurseries high standards of personal presentation and behaviour at all times.
- To bring a positive attitude to teamwork, contributing to the smooth running of the shift and interacting productively with other departments.
- To maintain the standards and culture of the team by setting an example to new members of staff and assisting in their training when required.

**Other**

This is a physical role which will involve:

- Heavy lifting
- Dealing with machinery
- Standing for long periods of time
- Adhering to the Company’s EHO and Health & Safety Policy
- Observe the rules and procedures of the Company as set out in the staff handbook
