Remote, United Kingdom Kasmir Associates Full time

Freelance Menswear Designer

Location: Lake District (full remote working)

Contract type: ongoing

Salary around £30,000 - £60,000 pro rata plus expenses

Kasmir Associates are exclusively recruiting a talented Freelance Menswear Designer for a prestigious fashion retailer located in the heart of the Lake District. This is a fully remote position so you can be based anywhere in the UK, but the role will initially be to spend time with the team and discuss ideas and colours with them, so accommodation will be covered by the company. They are a casual brand with a clear customer group and loyal brand following. You’ll work from home, but share design ideas digitally, and travel to see them as and when necessary. They’re looking for a designer with broad experience to cover the width of menswear offer: shirts, polos, t-shirts, trousers, shorts, knitwear, and jersey, because they are a retailer, designs must be commercial, and you’ll need to demonstrate an understanding of what this means from a design perspective:
As a Freelance Menswear Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the brand's menswear collections. You will work closely with the Buying Team to identify key trends, develop design concepts, and create commercial menswear ranges. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of garment construction, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

- You will identify and translate the must-have trends for casual men's fashion
- Summarise seasonal trends and colour palettes to fit within our Brand guidelines
- Ability to quickly create and adapt sketches and mock-ups to present design concepts
- Experience of designing a lifestyle capsule collection preferred but not essential
- Understand garment construction and production constraints.
- Sourcing new fabrics and developing newness
- Produce detailed tech packs and liaise with overseas factories
- Develop new trims and fabrics
- Identify and update bestsellers to drive repeat business
- Manage Sampling and Development of Critical Path
- You’ll be used to working closely with buying & merchandising teams on costs / margins to ensure the range is bought within established budgets.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in menswear design
- A strong background and understanding of working with different fabrication: cottons, wovens, jersey
- Experience of working with overseas factories
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator
- Experience working with overseas factories
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
